The camp

Tjuonajokk is probably the most renowned fishing camp in Sweden. It lies on the Kaitum river in Swedish Lapland between Kiruna and Gällivare some 120 kilometres north of the polar circle.

The most convenient way to travel there is to fly and the closest airport is Kiruna from where a helicopter brings you to Tjuonajokk. The camp is close to some of the famed fishing spots, and just a relaxing walk from the rapids, at the outlet of the lake. The most practical way of reaching all the fabled fishing spots is to hire a boat at the camp or you can accompany one of the camp's professional guides. They know all the finest spots and will quickly guide you to the fish. Downstream of the camp the fishing is only allowed from the shore or by wading: boat fishing is only allowed in the lakes. Tjuonajokk is equipped with self-catering cabins where you can cook, dry your wet clothes and get together with your friends. There is also, of course, a restaurant where you can have splendid meal with a beer or some wine and talk into the night of the fishing and the wilderness. Naturally there is also a big sauna just a step from the lake with a unique view over the mountains beyond the panoramic windows.
