| Tjuonajokk Camp,
with the surrounding streams of crystal clear water,
offers one of the best grayling-fishings in the world.
The fishing methods vary, but fly fishing is the most common.
The grayling, the dominant species in these parts, usually
prefers a floating fly. The average fish weighs around 700 grams although
fish double that size are often taken, especially during the dim of
the midnight sun and the real giants can take at any time. The record
Tjuonajokk grayling is 2,7 kilograms. The brown trout weigh up to one
kilo with the biggest between three to five kilograms.
Char is not so common in the streams, but fish over one kilogram are
caught every year. And then there is the lakes themself, for many anglers
the most exiting prospect. Here they can catch pike around 10 kilograms
and big perch. Spinning or fly fishing with big streamers does the trick.
The record for pike is 18.5 kilograms and for perch 1.8 kilograms.
